BayPort High School Years

2003 August - 2007 June

In August of 2003 our Sammy was starting BayPort H.S. as a Freshman. Throughout her freshman year she did straight A's in all of her classes. We couldn't have been more proud of our daughter. And then she discovered boys. Sammy started dating at the end of her freshman year, a young man named Timmy. She fell hard for this polite, kind, and caring boy. Unfortunately it would end tragically when Timmy would be killed in a car accident on New Year's Eve day. We worried a great deal from that day forward about our daughter. Her pain was so great, and all we wanted to do is try and take the pain away, but we knew we couldn't. Luckily Sammy had many, many wonderful friends at that time, to try and help her through her grief. Then came her next love in a young man named Paul. Once again I started to see Sammy smile again. Paul always had a beautiful, contagious smile on his face, and I know it always warmed Sammy's heart, and they could talk for hours. Then another dreaded day came when Paul decided to end it all. Sam was still reeling from Timmy's death, and facing Paul's decision to die was too soon for her to comprehend. Sammy alway blamed herself for Paul's decision to die and no one could tell her different. Another 2 months went by and believe it or not, more tragedy. Our beloved mini dachshund Mitzi ruptured a disc in her back at the age of 4 1/2. Our Mitzi was so precious to all of us, so we opted to try and save her through an expensive surgery. Unfortunately, Mitzi never regained any feeling in her back end, and eventually several days later we had to put her down. It was at this time, I saw the biggest change in Sammy. I believe this was the beginning of the end for our dear daughter. She refused to talk about any of the past tragedies, and vowed not to cry about any of it anymore. Of course we continued to try to get her to open up by trying to talk to her and seeking help for her, but to no avail. Over the next six months Sammy went through several boyfriends, none of which deserved her. Some were into drugs, and others cheated on her with other girls. It was at this time Sammy started cutting herself. I never heard of this before, so when I discovered it accidently I became very scared and I called the crisis center in Green Bay. I was told either to bring her in to the crisis center for evaluation or I could call the police and have them bring her there. However, they didn't feel that "cutting" mean't she was suicidal. I just knew I couldn't force Sam to go and their was no way I was going to have her escorted by the police. So I talked at length with Sam and she promised me she wouldn't do that, "cutting", anymore. I so badly wanted to believe that so I let it go. March 4th, 2006 things seemed to be looking up for Sammy. She met a young man by the name of Garrett Western who she fell head over heels for. I started to see that special sparkle in her eyes again, and I thought that just maybe everything was going to be alright. MORE AT A LATER DATE
